So, for the last 3 weeks we have been working on updating our main bathroom upstairs. It had an ugly old grey topped vanity and some sloppily put down vinyl tile that had decided to move around on its own over the years. So, I convinced my handy husband that we could do this ourselves. He decided to comply after I “twisted” his arm a bit.
The first weekend was demo. Ripped up the floors to find linoleum under the vinyl tile so out that came as well, all the way down to the subfloor. Took out the vanity as well. Then, last weekend he laid down the backer board and started the tile project – which with waiting for things to set, grouting and sealing – it took a little (or a lot) of work most nights this past week. He’s never tiled anything. And although he made a few mistakes, they weren’t too big of a deal. He did an excellent job! This weekend, the toilet was put back in place, the vanity was installed and we “accessorized”. So, now we have a pretty new bathroom. Owen even came in from outside to go to the bathroom and said to me “Mommy, I am going to go use our new bathroom. It is so cool!” Guess that means we have a winner!
